“We are not talking about the import of radioactive waste into Russia,” RIA Novosti quoted the company as saying.

It is noted that we are talking about the import into Russia of depleted uranium, which will be used for the production of enriched uranium.

“Foreign depleted uranium is imported into Russia not for burial, but for processing to a useful product - PMO - with its subsequent export back abroad,” noted Techsnabexport JSC.

It is noted that the transportation of raw materials is carried out in accordance with all international and Russian safety requirements.

Earlier, Greenpeace reported that the European nuclear company Urenco has resumed import of uranium enrichment waste into Russia. Greenpeace noted that the imported material is supposedly radioactive and toxic.
