Black Ax is called the international criminal network, which has its base in Nigeria, and now wants to enter the Uppsala market with drugs and prostitution.

- Above all, it's about trafficking, they hold women hostage and fool them if they leave the job. But it is also about selling cocaine and heroin, says Jale Poljarevius, local police area manager in the Mittel police region.

The network has been established in Italy for several years, but has, after pressure from police in the country, spread its operations northwards in Europe. They have previously been active in Malmö and Gothenburg, among others, and have recently established themselves in Stockholm. Now the police suspect that Black Ax has reached Uppsala as well.

A seizure of heroin sales doses made this weekend reinforces the police's suspicions of the network's presence in Uppsala.

Gang violence can escalate

The police have also for a long time seen that women from Nigeria post advertisements for prostitution in our area. Jale Poljarevius notes that it is important for the police to be responsive to successfully discovering the network.

- It could easily be waved away if someone testifies that they can have illnesses sent on them, if they do not prostitute themselves. But if anyone is this, it is important for the police to listen so that you really are in the match, says Jale Poljarevius.

If Black Ax manages to get into Uppsala - how does it affect the already existing gang crime?

- You can only speculate on that, but it's not that the gang will say "oh here comes Black Ax - welcome into the game", but it's pretty crowded already. There is a lot of cocaine but not so many users so the market is quite saturated. It would lead to violence rather than cooperation.
