It is noted that the monitoring, the results of which was reviewed by RT, was carried out on the basis of traffic police data, as well as the ONF Road Inspectorate.

The leader in terms of reducing road accidents was Rostov-on-Don, where the number of accidents decreased by 23%. In Perm, this indicator amounted to 22%, in Kaliningrad - 21%.

A significant decrease in the number of accidents was also recorded in Naberezhnye Chelny, Saratov, Krasnoyarsk, Lipetsk and Barnaul.

In addition, in 20 out of 38 cities, the number of victims of road crashes decreased. In particular, in Kaliningrad - by 49%, Perm - by 40%, Saratov - by 39%.

ONF experts noted that in ten cities, the road safety situation only worsened in two years. The largest increase in the number of road accident victims was recorded in Cheboksary - by 64% (in 2016, 25 deaths, in 2018 - 41).

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev criticized the heads of several regions for poor performance of the national project "Safe and high-quality roads."
