Hong Kong Personal Handover Ordinance Amendment Formally Withdrawn October 23 16:06

The Hong Kong government officially withdrew from the legislative assembly, a parliament, that the ordinance was revised to allow the suspects who triggered the series of protests to be handed over to mainland China. However, the amendment submitted to the Legislative Committee in April was withdrawn without a full deliberation due to the fierce reaction from the public.

However, many citizens still rebelled against the government and the police as other requests such as the establishment of an independent investigation committee to verify the response of the police to the demonstrators were not accepted even if the revised bill was withdrawn. The protests are expected to continue.
