The presidents of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, agreed Tuesday to create a security zone in northeastern Syria that will enter into force at midnight on Wednesday.

Beginning at midnight on October 23, the Syrian and Russian military police officers will be responsible for releasing this strip of Kurdish groups within 150 hours, as stated in the ten-point memorandum of understanding that the two presidents signed today at their meeting in the Russian resort of Sochi, in the Black Sea.
