Despite their strengths, complete starchy foods (rice, pasta, semolina, wholemeal bread ...) and legumes (lentils, chickpeas ...), high in fiber and good for health, are not present enough in the world. plate of the French, stresses Public Health France in a new campaign.

Some 60% of adults do not eat complete cereal products and 85% do not meet the recommendation for pulses, which is to be consumed twice a week, according to the health agency.

Broadcast for a month on television, social networks and the site eatbouger.fr, this national campaign launched Tuesday encourages the French to gradually change their habits, without giving up the pleasure of eating, says SpF. With this slogan: "Start by improving a dish you already love".

An example? "You're rather carbonara pasta? Opt for complete pasta, it's also quick to make and richer in fiber."

Reduce meat, cold cuts, alcohol, sweet products and drinks, salted products, those with a Nutriscore D and E (scale letters and colors to help choose better balanced dishes, Editor's note).

63% of adults aged 18 to 54 exceed 150 grams of deli meats per week; 30% exceed one drink a day of sugary drinks. 83% exceed the recommended saturated fat intake threshold (less than 36% of total fat intake).

In France, nearly half of adults are overweight and 8 million of them suffer from obesity, including 500,000 in a severe form, according to the Ministry of Health.

Beyond the focus on starchy foods and legumes, general advice remains to eat more fruits and vegetables, eat more meals, move more and limit sitting time.
