Japan Intronizes New Emperor
In Tokyo, the solemn ceremony of the proclamation of the new Emperor of Japan Naruhito. His father abandoned the throne due to his advanced age. During the ritual, Naruhito was dressed in white robes in which he entered the Kashikodokoro shrine to announce the accession to the throne to the gods of the Three Shrines. During the ceremony, worship of the sun goddess Amaterasu Omikami was made by members of the imperial family and representatives of the three branches of power in Japan, including Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. More than 2 thousand guests were invited to the celebrations, 400 of which were heads and representatives of foreign states.
