The death toll as a result of a dam break in the Krasnoyarsk Territory increased from 15 to 17 people. This was reported by the official representative of the Investigative Committee Svetlana Petrenko.

“Within the framework of the investigation of the criminal case on the breakthrough of the dam in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the bodies of two more dead from the missing were found,” TASS quoted her as saying.

14 bodies have already been identified by the relatives of the victims.

Thus, three more people are considered missing. 27 people asked for medical help in connection with the emergency - nothing threatens their life, they emphasized in the regional Ministry of Health.

According to the latest data, 17 people remain in hospitals. The press service of the governor said that they will begin to be discharged in the near future. It is noted that the head physician of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Hospital, Yegor Korchagin, considers the condition of the patients to be satisfactory.

“I hope that in a couple of days we will begin to discharge the first patients. All the necessary steps for diagnosis and psychological support are now being carried out, ”the press service quotes the doctor’s words.

The governor of the region Alexander Uss also visited the victims. According to him, by the time of discharge, people will be given documents lost as a result of the tragedy.

“All documents will be restored - these are both passports and driver’s licenses. Such work is already underway. In the coming days, in time for your discharge from the hospital, the documents will be ready, ”the governor said.

Victims will receive compensation from 50 to 500 thousand rubles, depending on the damage to their health. This was reported by the Minister of Social Policy of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Irina Pastukhova. Families of the dead will receive 1 million rubles each, and those whose relatives are missing will be paid up to 500 thousand.

Vladimir Putin instructed the governor to implement all necessary measures, paying particular attention to the needs of people, ”the Kremlin’s press service said.

Breakthrough of five dams

A dam broke in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on October 19 near the village of Schetinkino on the Ceiba River, where gold was mined. The mine belongs to the Sisim company, which is part of the Sibzoloto holding.

The collapse of the dam led to the formation of a stream consisting of mud, stones and rock fragments - mudflow. TASS, citing a source in the leadership of the region, said that the wave height was up to four meters.

The stream destroyed four more dams and actually washed away two workers' dormitories.

According to the preliminary version, the reason for the incident could be the wrong soil chosen for the construction of the dam. During a court hearing in a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of safety rules during the work, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence”), it was announced that the material was not sufficiently studied.

“Damage to the hydraulic structure (hydraulic structure. - RT) could have occurred for the following reasons: the hydraulic structure was constructed from local soil, the quality of this soil has not been determined. In general, it is necessary to establish whether this soil can be used for such structures. Filtration processes exist in the GTS, that is, water is filtered through the GTS body, which has a negative process of reducing soil adhesion, ”TASS quoted Judge Marina Poptsova as saying.

Moreover, almost immediately after the emergency it became known that all five of the destroyed dams were not certified and, therefore, did not pass the examination.

“It was established that the dams were installed illegally without any permits in order to divert groundwater at the gold mining site. The breakthrough began from the very top, and then four more hydraulic structures collapsed due to the strength of the moving water flow, ”the UK website says.

The criminal case was transferred to the central apparatus of the Investigative Committee of Russia - earlier it was dealt with by the regional GU of the Investigative Committee.

According to the materials of the IC, the Sisim company employees tried to prevent the investigation - on October 19 in the evening they tried to remove financial documents and system units from the office. However, law enforcement authorities stopped this attempt.

Also, in the course of work to eliminate the consequences of an emergency, a safe was discovered. After opening it, gold was allegedly discovered. The investigation intends to ask the court to arrest this property, so that at the expense of it the damage to the victims would be compensated - there are currently 29 people in this case.

On October 21, the court sentenced the general director of “Sisim”, the mining foreman and the head of the division for two months during the investigation. The latter, Andrei Eganov, pleaded guilty, collaborated with the investigation and helped with the rescue.
