The elected representatives of the group Canal + unanimously asked Monday the departure of Eric Zemmour CNews antenna, we learned from union sources, confirming an information site Les Jours.

A motion approved by all staff representatives was presented to management at a meeting of the Social and Economic Committee (CSE) of Canal +, a company that owns the CNews news channel.

"The members of the CSE of the SIU (economic and social unit, editor's note) Canal + ask the management to stop its collaboration with Éric Zemmour and withdraw it from the CNews antenna for obvious reasons on the economic, on the safety of the staff, on the image of the group and on ethics ", indicates the text of this motion, which the AFP was able to consult.

The staff elected to protest against the decision of the group, who recruited the polemicist for a new daily show called "Face the info", broadcast since mid-October on the news channel CNews and which he is the star columnist.

A return on CNews (ex-iTELE) decided despite the intense controversy triggered by his very virulent speech on Islam and immigration at the end of September to the "Convention of the Right", and the confirmation in September of a conviction court for "incitement to religious hatred".

The recruitment of Eric Zemmour has triggered major internal turmoil. He had already been strongly criticized by the CNews Editors 'Society and the Canal + Journalists' Society, who are also worried about the "negative impact" it could have on the image of the channel, the group and its affiliates. journalists, and these organizations also called for his departure.
