The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed that an Israeli delegation participated in a two-day conference in Bahrain on defending the freedom of navigation in the Gulf, while the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemned the Israeli participation.

The conference is a follow-up to the Warsaw Conference, which was initiated by the US administration a few months ago.

For its part, condemned the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Sunday, the participation of the Israeli delegation in the conference, said the movement's spokesman Hazem Qassem that the participation of a delegation of the occupation government in a security conference in Bahrain is condemned and contrary to the conscience of the Arab nation.

In August, Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz announced that his country would take part in the naval security and intelligence mission in the Persian Gulf.

In July, Washington announced it was seeking to form a military alliance within weeks, claiming to protect strategic waters in the Gulf.

Washington and its Gulf allies accuse Tehran of targeting commercial ships and oil installations in the Gulf, a charge Iran denies and has offered to sign a "non-aggression" agreement with the Gulf states.

This is not the first time that Israeli officials have participated in conferences in Bahrain, but there were several, most recently in April by Economy Minister Eli Cohen at a ministerial-level World Bank conference on leading technology and innovation companies.
