Rafael Nadal, the world's second player, will head the Spanish team that will play the new Davis Cup Formula 18-24 November in Madrid, said Monday the Spanish Tennis Federation.
Quadruple winner of the Silver Salad Bowl, Nadal will team up with Roberto Bautista Agut, Pablo Carreño, Feliciano Lopez and Marcel Granollers.
"The new format makes it very easy for big players to play in. It's very appealing to see the best players for a week," Spain captain Sergi Bruguera said in a statement.
Spain was paid in Group B with Croatia and Russia.
