• Bolivia.Evo Morales seeks his fourth term with symptoms of fatigue

Bolivia will contest for the first time a second electoral round on December 15, since Evo Morales does not obtain 50% of the votes required to continue to lead the country nor exceed its rival by more than 10%, according to preliminary data made public Tonight (early morning in Spain).

The candidate of the Movement To Socialism would have obtained 45.7% of the votes compared to 37.8% of former president Carlos Mesa, who appeared at the head of the Citizen Community. After three elections in which it swept, Morales must face ballotting for the first time.

In third place has been the surprising evangelical pastor Chi Hyun Chung, of Korean origin, who at the head of the Christian Democratic Party overcame the 8% barrier. Under the slogan "Chi Can", he based his campaign on the discourse of intolerance against homosexuals and of "protection" for women and the family. The vote of his followers will be final for the final result.

The fourth candidate in dispute, opposition senator Óscar Ortiz, settled for 4%, dragged by the useful vote that led half of his supporters to support Mesa's proposal, according to the polls.
