Accused of the murder of 9-year-old Liza Kiseleva, Mikhail Tuvatin fully admitted his guilt under subsection “c” of Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code (“murder of a minor”). This was reported by the Investigative Committee.

“Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Saratov region, on the basis of evidence gathered in the case, charged the suspect with the commission of murder of a young child. He fully admitted guilt in the alleged act. During the on-site verification of testimonies, he spoke about the circumstances of the incident, ”the agency’s website says.

The UK stressed that the investigation is ongoing - the agency establishes an objective picture of the crime, conducts forensic examinations.

According to the investigation, on October 9 in the morning, a resident of Saratov, Liza Kiseleva, went to school, but did not appear at the lessons. On the same day, both the Ministry of Internal Affairs officers and the volunteers of the Lisa Alert detachment began to search for her.

Her body was found on the night of October 10-11 in a garage located on the way from the girl’s house to school. On the same day, a previously convicted 35-year-old Mikhail Tuvatin was detained on suspicion of murder. From 2008 to 2010 he was in prison for theft, and in 2011 he went back to jail again - received 6.5 years for robbery and rape.

After being detained, Tuvatin confessed. According to him, the garage was abandoned and he seized it, changing the castle there. Lisa Kiseleva on the way to school saw a man in this garage and tried to find out if the premises belong to Tuvatin. Frightened that the garage belongs to the girl’s family, he dragged her inside and killed her.

His trial was closed on October 12 in the neighboring city of Engels. Tuvatin was detained for two months.

Farewell to Lisa took place on October 13. Hundreds of residents of Saratov came to the ceremony. They carried flowers, wreaths and soft toys.

“He is attracted to crimes”

Tuvatin, in addition to a criminal record, also has poor characteristics from the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN). The deputy head of the department, Valery Maksimenko, said that according to their assessment, this person "is prone to deception, cunning and dangerous, needs control."

“This man is not simple: he is aware of everything, but he is attracted to crimes. Psychological tests showed that he was fixated on sexual topics, everything rests against him, ”Maksimenko quotes the Moscow Talking radio station.

The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Saratov Region emphasized that they would check the work of the district police officer, whose duties included a quarterly preventive check of Tuvatin. At the same time, according to Elena Perepelova, head of the department for organizing the activities of precinct police and juvenile units of the regional police department, there were no complaints about the man during the checks.

“During the checks, complaints from neighbors about domestic behavior, as well as alcohol abuse, were not brought to administrative responsibility,” she said.

The opposite assessment of Tuvatin was given by his mother Olga. She described him as “wonderful, kind and smart” and refused to believe that he had killed a 9-year-old girl.

“If you saw my son ... Wonderful, kind, smart, hard-working ... He worked as a simple worker,” she said.

Road to school

The Ruptly crew went along the path that the girl daily went from home to school. A significant part of it passes through a garage cooperative. Lisa’s mother, Elena Kiseleva, asked the city authorities to organize an illuminated road to the school, equipped with surveillance cameras and fenced off with high fences from garages.

The press service of the city administration on October 13 said that the mayor Mikhail Isaev instructed to check all the suitable paths to schools and kindergartens, in order to put them in order if necessary.

As noted in the Lisa Alert detachment, it is impossible to foresee everything in order to avoid a tragedy, but risks can be reduced to a minimum. To this end, volunteers are encouraged to follow five rules: not to let go of a child alone, to teach how to behave with strangers, including neighbors and distant relatives, to build safe routes for children, to teach a child to communicate about his movements and, if necessary, to attract as many people as possible to search.

Public response

The murder of a 9-year-old girl caused a wide public outcry. In social networks, people began to demand the return of the death penalty. A corresponding poll was published on the State Duma’s page in Vkontakte, in which more than 150 thousand people took part. Of these, almost 79% of those polled called for the return of capital punishment.

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, the mother of the murdered girl, Elena Kiseleva, said that she would not want her daughter's name to be associated with the return of the death penalty.

“We do not want the name of Lisa to be associated with the abolition of the moratorium on the death penalty in Russia,” she said.

Aunt Lisa Kiseleva Irina Kulyasova in an interview with RT also opposed. At the same time, she thanked people for their responsiveness and cohesion.

“Probably for life, yes. About the death penalty, for this case to become a precedent, I probably would not want to. As many now write “death is for the death of a child,” we would not want this, ”she said.

Reporters asked about the return of the death penalty to the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov. According to him, the Kremlin does not discuss this topic.
