Khadija Genghis, the fiancé of the late Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, met with several US lawmakers to press Congress to hold those responsible for his assassination last year.

In a statement, Khadija said she went to Congress to work on uncovering Khashoggi's murder at his country's consulate in early October last year and identifying the real officials behind the murder.

She said she wanted justice for Khashoggi, who was brutally murdered by Saudi agents, but it was regrettable that the Trump administration had taken no serious step to punish those behind the crime, she said.

Therefore, it addresses the conscience of members of Congress in order to hold those responsible for the crime accounted for and to reach a conclusion in this regard.

"We are exploring here in Congress all the options to ask lawmakers to hold Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other Saudi officials involved in this terrible crime," the website quoted Keith Harper as saying.
