On the morning of October 8, several car owners in Lindbacken in Uppsala discovered that their cars lacked steering wheel and other equipment. A week later, the thieves struck in Nåntuna. And last night towards Friday, a steering wheel was stolen in Enköping.

Since October 2, the police have received a total of 15 reports from the Mitt region. It is mainly owners of exclusive cars such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz that have been hit, and the thieves have also taken cars' navigation equipment.

Hard to stop

Police suspect there is one and the same league behind the thefts. The thieves are organized and it is difficult to predict when and where to show up.

"It would be combined with a large portion of luck to take them on a perpetration," says Jonas Eronen, press spokesman for the Mitt police region.

A new steering wheel can cost up to SEK 25,000.
