- We work continuously with security creation and this is part of the project, says Kenneth Hinsegård, property manager in Kalmar.

In the project, the housing company hands out small electric buttons similar to a "key tag" that is connected to the mobile phone. When the tenant feels unsafe, they can press the button and the place where they are located is then registered on a map, which the housing company will analyze when the project is completed in mid-November.

More lighting

- We work to get to safer and better areas, for example by cutting down shrubs and putting up more lighting, some areas are clearly more exposed than others.

- We also want to try to find out which groups are feeling unsafe, he says.

Those who have chosen to participate in the survey can also report other places than in the area where they live. Anywhere in town or in the municipality where you feel insecure.

Great interest

- There has been great interest in this study. The police, the municipality and several different security groups would like to share the result, says Kenneth Hinsegård.

Anette Lundbom and Mikalela Lundbom live in the Norrliden area of Kalmar. Anette rents her apartment from Rikshem but does not attend the security college. Both feel that much can be improved in the area to increase safety.

- We don't feel safe in the evenings and don't go out at night, they say. You do not go out yourself. More lighting in the area would be of great benefit.
