The businessman and shareholder in the media Matthieu Pigasse resigned from the investment bank Lazard, announced this last Sunday in a statement.

The resignation will take effect on December 31, says the bank, which "will announce a new management team in France shortly."

Mr. Pigasse was CEO of the French subsidiary, Global Head of Investment Banking and Deputy Chief Financial Officer.

In a letter to employees sent to AFP, Mr. Pigasse explains that he "decided to engage in a personal project of an entrepreneurial nature" after "fifteen exciting years at Lazard".

"It was a difficult decision to make (...) that I thought carefully," he said in this letter. "I spoke at length with Ken Jacobs," the boss of Lazard, "and I resigned my resignation to be able to devote myself to the finalization of my project," said Pigasse.

He does not specify to which type of project he intends to commit.

Matthieu Pigasse owns a number of participations in the media and culture, including the Inrocks or Le Monde, of which he is one of the major shareholders but of which he sold part of his shares last year to the Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky.
