An extremely serious agent
An agent of the national police wounded in the clashes on Friday in the square in Barcelona between the police and Catalan independentists is hospitalized in very serious conditions. According to La Vanguardia, the agent is "hospitalized in the intensive care unit in a very serious state due to a traumatic brain injury, a fracture at the base of the skull that affects two vertebrae and causes respiratory complications". His situation worsened last night following the collapse of a lung. The policeman was injured during the guerrilla war in Piazza Laietana, the epicenter of most of the clashes this week. The agent was struck by a metal bearing thrown by a modified slingshot that pierced his helmet. He immediately lost consciousness, with severe bleeding in his ear, and was evacuated by his colleagues under a shower of objects thrown by protesters. At two in the morning his wife was informed of the incident. According to police sources, before his condition worsened, the agent was "conscious and alert".

Twelve people were arrested last night during clashes in central Madrid after a hundred protesters in favor of Catalan political prisoners attempted to block the Gran Via, one of the main roads in the capital. In Madrid, the demonstration began peacefully in the late afternoon from Atocha, heading for Puerta del Sol, in the heart of the Spanish capital, with 4,000 people asking "amnesty for all political prisoners", then the tension rose and Mossos charged the protesters. On social media, images of wounded demonstrators with blood on their faces began to shoot. At the end of the clashes, 26 people were injured, including ten police officers. According to police sources, ten of the detainees were part of the demonstration in favor of Catalan politicians, while two were of the march proclaimed by the extreme right under the slogan "Catalonia is Spain".

Mossos in action in Barcelona
Violent groups have infiltrated the new and impressive day of demonstrations and tension experienced last night in Barcelona. It all started in a peaceful way to carry out the protest against the condemnation of the nine independence leaders, but the situation degenerated in the middle of the night when more violent small groups started to set fire to bins, throw stones at the police and destroy everything what they found on their way leaving flames and torn-up road signs behind. The Mossos charged to stop the hooded groups and fired rubber bullets while the firemen tried to extinguish the fires. All this while the peaceful demonstration with hundreds of people continued in front of the Arc de Triomphe. Police charges and urban guerrilla scenes have been postponed by live coverage on websites and social media.
