Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that the installation of solar energy systems for 4,000 houses for citizens in Dubai has been completed as part of the Dubai project to install solar photovoltaic panels in 10% of the citizens' houses in Dubai and connect them to the grid.

HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Authority, at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), inaugurated the 6th World Green Economy Summit in Dubai with the participation of current and former heads of state and government, international and regional organizations, as well as representatives from 80 countries including the UAE.

During the opening of the summit, Sheikh Khalifa said that the UAE has made an important achievement in the transition towards a green economy and reliance on clean and renewable energy in order to reach the strategic goals of the UAE in the field of energy and the Dubai 2050 strategy. The most important are the Noor Abu Dhabi plant and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO of DEWA and Chairman of the World Green Economy Summit, said in a press statement on the sidelines of the summit that the number of homes with solar energy systems will reach 5,000 in December, in line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced by His Highness in the document of fifty.

He said that the number of electric cars in Dubai rose to 1000 cars in Dubai, after five cars only three years ago, in addition to 4000 hybrid cars, and the number of charging stations for this type of cars about 200 stations, pointing out that according to Dubai strategy In this regard, it is working to become 10% of the fleet of government-owned vehicles in Dubai Electric by 2030, stressing that Dubai's strategy is constantly reviewed and updated.

Saeed Al Tayer, CEO of DEWA and Chairman of the World Green Economy Summit, said that DEWA is working on building a hydroelectric power plant in Hatta with solar energy pumping and storage technology and utilizing the water stored in Hatta Dam, the first of its kind in the Arabian Gulf region. With a storage capacity of up to 1500 MWh, the Green Hydrogen pilot project for clean hydrogen production, the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa, will be stored hydrogen produced and then used in multiple fields.
