- We get a lot of questions from people who want to sell their fireplaces. A year ago we got even more questions, then many people thought that they did not even get fire in their fireplaces, but that is not the case, says Anne-Sofie Aronsson, at the Eldabutiken in Norrköping.

Recently, the dealer has received several questions about selling the old stove, when the new one is installed.

- We bring the old fireplaces, but we throw them away. Then we are often asked if they cannot sell the old stove themselves, but it is usually not worth selling, says Anne-Sofie Aronsson.

The purpose of the new rules is to reduce emissions and the old fireplaces usually have much higher emission levels, she explains.

- If you choose to sell your old stove, you should inform the buyer that they do not receive a building notification approved by the municipality. The old fireplaces emit too much particles in the air and have less combustion than today's fireplaces, says Anne-Sofie Aronsson.

Notification to the municipality's building committee is required to install or substantially alter a fireplace, such as a fireplace or flue. For a new exterior chimney, you may need to apply for building permits if the chimney significantly affects the building's external appearance.
