Kitchen stoves, wood stoves intended primarily for cooking, stoves and fireplaces are not covered by the new rules. As before, no emission requirements apply to these types of room heaters, Boverket writes on its site.

The new rules that apply to wood and pellet stoves mean that carbon monoxide emissions at nominal power, that is, the value stated on the enclosed brochure may not exceed these values: stoves 0.12 vol%, pellet stoves 0.024 vol%. The efficiency must not be lower than 65% for wood burning stoves and 79% for pellet stoves, seen in minutes.

Affects new installation of room heaters

For those of you who already have a stove or room heater installed in your home, the new rules do not apply either, but they concern you installing a new stove.

In order to minimize emissions from fireplaces, new emission levels have been developed. The transition period for the changed boiler regulations expired on July 1, 2018.
