Medvedev cautioned against using history for political bidding

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, during a visit to Serbia on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade from Nazi invaders, noted that history should not be corresponded and became the subject of political bidding.

“History is a controversial thing. People love to rewrite this story. Sometimes it takes disgusting forms. Especially when it comes to events for which there should be no dispute, ”RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Medvedev said that this applies to the events of the Second World War, the historical truth about which must be preserved.

“There are black pages, there are bright pages. And this should not be the subject of political bargaining, manipulation. This fully applies to events such as the liberation of Belgrade, victories in World War II, ”the Russian prime minister emphasized.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin urged not to forget the tragic result of World War II for the Soviet people.

In July, Sergei Ivanov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Military Historical Society, warned of the possibility of new anti-Russian fakes on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.
