The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the terrorist bombing of a mosque in the eastern Afghan city of Nangarhar during Friday prayers that killed and wounded worshipers.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stressed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its constant rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism, which is aimed at destabilizing security and stability and contrary to religious and humanitarian values ​​and principles.

The Ministry also expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families and families of the victims of this heinous crime and wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured.

The terrorist bombing killed at least 62 worshipers and wounded dozens of people, according to a spokesman for the governor of the province of Nangarharta Atallah Khojiani.

He said the dead were "all worshipers" and died in the blast in the district of Haskah Minh, about 50 km from the state capital Jalalabad.

Witnesses said the roof of the mosque collapsed after the "loud" explosion.
