A Dubai resident has been jailed for six months after being found guilty of assaulting a taxi driver, beating him and breaking his front teeth, prosecutors said.

According to investigations conducted by the prosecution, the victim's driver (Asian), aged 49, took the defendant from Al-Rifa'a area at about 8:30 pm on March 29, after the latter asked him to take him to Oud Al-Muteena.

The victim said that the defendant immediately started insulting him as soon as he was riding in the car. He added that the defendant came down from the vehicle and fought with him in a noisy conversation and then punched him in the face, which broke his teeth, pointing out that someone was accidentally passing the scene of the incident, which helped the driver to catch the accused, and prevented him from escaping until the police came.

In the police evidence, the defendant said that he did not intend to harm the victim, attributing his behavior to being under the influence of alcohol, and admitted before the Criminal Court that he was drunk but denied the assault on the driver, who sustained a permanent disability according to a medical report that 3 His teeth were the result of beating.

The court convicted the defendant and sentenced him to six months in prison, followed by deportation after serving his sentence, in addition to a 2,000 dirham fine.
