Stressing that "it will take some time to pay" these extra hours, Christophe Castaner added during the show "You have the word" on France 2: "At the end of this year, the goal is to to clear a first part of the overtime we owe them ". The minister said that in the 2020 budget "26 million to pay for overtime" and ensure that "we do not rebuild the stock."
On 2 October, all the police unions organized "a march of anger", which sparked unprecedented mobilization in the profession in almost twenty years. Among their demands is the clearance of the gigantic stock of overtime.
