On Friday, the Academic Hospital in Uppsala announced that the operation stoppage, which has already been going on for a week, will be extended until Tuesday 22 October.

Among other things, SVT has interviewed cancer patient Bruno Lucien-Brun from Hudiksvall, who went down to the Academic Hospital but had to turn in the door.

The Gävleborg region states that Gävle citizens received reception visits, inpatient care or surgeries, both emergency and planned, at the Academic Hospital on just over 14,000 occasions in 2018. Furthermore, the region states that last week's surgery stoppage probably affected patients in the county.

"We have established an alarm list"

The Gävleborg region also states that the situation in Uppsala is closely monitored.

- We have had a meeting during the day to see if the stoppage can be affected during the weekend. We continue to have contact with the other regions and have established an alarm list in case we need to act during the weekend, says Ronny Stjernlöf, security and emergency manager.

The managers of the various operations are also invited to review their warehouses so that there will be no shortage while there is still an operational stoppage in Uppsala.
