The US House of Representatives on Wednesday condemned President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the US military from Syria. To discuss the issue further, the Democrats' two leaders in Congress, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, met with Trump in the White House.

But the meeting did not end well.

Pelosi and Schumer left the meeting prematurely after Trump, in a long line, called the House of Representatives President Pelosi a "third-class politician".

-What we saw from the president was a meltdown. It is sad to have to say, Pelosi responded to a press conference immediately after the meeting, writes AFP news agency.

There it could have ended, but as so often Trump to Twitter, where he in turn accused Pelosi of having a heart melt, to continue:

"Either there is something wrong with her 'up there', or she simply does not like our fantastic country" and "Pray for her, she is a completely sick person".

"Strategically brilliant"

Trump is increasingly pressured at home for his decision to withdraw the troops, including from the Republican side. In the House of Representatives vote, Trump was bribed by 129 party members who voted with the Democrats.

But the president stands up, and also jumped on Senator Lindsey Graham, who otherwise stands close to Trump.

-Graham would like us to stay in the Middle East for the next thousand years with thousands of soldiers fighting the wars of others. I want to leave the Middle East, Trump said at a press conference where he also described his decision as "strategically brilliant".

-Our soldiers have left the place, our soldiers are completely safe. If Turkey enters into Syria, it is up to Turkey and Syria to resolve the situation, not Turkey and the United States as a lot of stupid people want you to believe, he said.

Letter to Erdogan

In an attempt to control the political damage that followed Trump's decision, the White House published a "very powerful" letter he sent to Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, dated October 9, when the Turkish military offensive in Syria began. There, Trump urges him not to be "a tough guy" or "a fool".

“Let's make a good deal! You do not want to bear the responsibility of slaughtering thousands of people, and I do not want to bear the responsibility of destroying Turkey's economy - which I will do, ”Trump wrote in the letter.
