As Alafinov noted, the department believes that from the point of view of road safety “this is the right step,” RIA Novosti informs.

“But there is a very important nuance: at the same time, we, together with the state-owned company (Russian Highways. - RT ), the Federal Highway Agency, have developed a complete list of federal highways that may increase the speed limit while lowering this threshold,” he said.

According to him, the Ministry of Transport and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate “for the purposes of the national project” support such an initiative, but despite the fact that the regime will be raised somewhere on federal roads.

He added that the initially non-fined speed limit of 20 km / h was introduced due to the fact that the first systems worked with a sufficiently large error, and modern photo and video recording systems are much more accurate.

According to Alafinov, an increase in maximum speed from 110 to 130 km / h is currently being discussed with the traffic police, but such a proposal comes to a standstill with a non-fined limit of 20 km / h.

Earlier, the traffic police said they intend to reduce the unpunished threshold for exceeding the permitted speed to 10 km / h.

The ministry hopes that this initiative will be reflected in the updated Code of Administrative Offenses, which the State Duma may consider next year.

Expert Kirill Formanchuk commented on the idea of URA.RU to reduce the permissible speeding threshold.
