• Courts: A former director of Aguirre places her in a meeting in which the directors were "invited" to hire companies from Punica
  • Punic Case. The judge imputes Esperanza Aguirre for "forging" a plan to divert public money to the PP in Madrid since 2004

Ignacio González has eluded this Thursday to incriminate the former Madrid president Esperanza Aguirre, who tomorrow declares as accused in the Punic case for the alleged irregular financing of the regional PP. The former regional president has also declared before the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor and the judge of the National Court Manuel García Castellón that he does not remember any order or indication from Aguirre to contract with the companies that were to finance the party.

The researchers say that at a 2004 meeting, Aguirre asked several of his advisors to contract with Horacio Mercado, Over Marketing . In return, the employer would assume electoral expenses of the party. Former imputed counselor Manuel Lamela said this week that Aguirre "invited" them to work with Mercado. This Thursday, Gonzalez recalled that meeting before the judge, but not that the president indicated that they should work with Over Marketing. The accused has said that he actually met with the businessman, but it was common for political marketing companies to hold meetings with the Madrid Government to offer their services.

The Prosecutor's Office has also asked González about another more recent meeting. In 2012, the former president would have asked the head of the Computing and Communications Agency (ICM) José Martínez Nicolás to obtain one million euros for the party through price premiums in his awards. The accused has denied it and said he never had a private meeting with Martínez Nicolás.

As for the clause that was established in the public awards to devote 1% of the expenditure to advertising - money that would have ended in the game -, he has declared that this was a decision of the Ministry of Health , that is, of Lamela. As for the alleged financing through the Indra company, he has said he knows nothing, a frequent response, along with the "I don't remember", in the statement.

Apart from specific episodes, González has denied having participated or being aware of any illicit financing of the PP in Madrid. He has stated that he was engaged in political activity and not economic aspects of the life of the party. That was a task of the manager, Beltrán Gutiérrez , he said.

He has also lied to the manager the next accused in declaring, former counselor Gador Ongil . In his replies, he explained that when he was appointed president of Fundescam and asked what tasks he should assume, Esperanza Aguirre herself told her not to worry, that Beltrán Gutiérrez took care of everything. According to the investigation, the foundation was another key piece in the illegal financing of the Madrid PP.
