The emergency services were alerted to the scene at 3.30pm the night before Thursday.
- We had units in place to extinguish several cars that were burning - then an explosion was heard nearby. We do not know what it was, but there is no major damage to the site, says Roger Magnusson, operations manager at the Södertörn Fire Defense Association.
The police have blocked the scene and bomb technicians have been called to the scene, but when an explosion occurred at Södermalm in Stockholm during the night, it may take some time before.
- We have to prioritize. But the technicians will go to Södertälje and the place is barred, says Peter Asp, the commanding officer of the Stockholm Police.
