The unions CGT, FO, FSU, Solidaires and four youth organizations on Wednesday called for "a first day of interprofessional strike" against the future pension reform on December 5, date of an indefinite strike launched by several unions of the RATP and SNCF.

"The trade unions and youth commit to build an action plan against the project of pension reform by points and to gain a strengthening, an improvement of the current system of solidarity and intergenerational pensions," they write in a statement .

Alongside the unions of signatory employees are the high school organizations Fidl, MNL, UNL and student Unef.

CGT and FO had expressed their opposition to the reform separately in September. But at the beginning of October, following an inter-trade union, CGT and FO, as well as the FSU and Solidaires unions, announced that they wanted to discuss the "prospect" of an interprofessional strike.

"Organizations will initiate and promote general assemblies in workplaces and studies, public debates on the whole territory, arrests of local and national elected officials, initiatives to raise awareness of the entire population, to discuss the reform and on the modalities of actions and collective response, "they write in their communique.

Several RATP unions, which had led a first social movement closely followed on September 13, called for an "unlimited" strike from December 5 to oppose the reform project, which provides for a "universal" points system. from 2025. The unions of SNCF and road transport had joined this call.
