During the day, this year's first party leadership debate took place in the Riksdag.

The age for when Swedes have the right to start taking out their general pension is increased, from the age of 61 to 62. At the same time, the age limit is increased for how long you have the right to retain your employment, the so-called LAS age, from 67 to 68 years of age.

- We have a relatively sustainable pension system in Sweden, but in order for it to last, we must be able to raise the retirement age as we get older, says Maria Malmer Stenergard (M), chair of the Social Insurance Committee to TT.

Questions have been raised

LO has raised questions about other social security systems such as unemployment insurance, sickness benefit, old-age support, survivor's pension and housing allowance will also be reviewed and changed as the retirement age increases.

According to Maria Malmer Stenergard, these systems should also be changed.

"All these systems are interconnected and therefore it is important that all of them are linked to this target age," she says.

Guarantee pensioners suffer

According to Mats Granér, Head of Unit at the Swedish Social Insurance Inspectorate, there is a group that is disadvantaged by the decision to raise retirement age. These are those with the lowest income, often women who have worked a lot of part-time work and people who work with physically demanding jobs.

- A group is clearly affected, those who only have a pension guarantee. They do not earn from working anymore. But it's a fairly small group, he says.

"Important to choose yourself"

Margareta Sundström is a pensioner and worked until she was 72 years old. She tells SVT News that she was happy to be able to choose how she wanted to do.

- I think it was great fun that I got to work. But it was because my job was so much fun. And I could decide for myself, both when and how much I wanted to work. But if you have a job in, for example, industry or healthcare, you can feel completely worn out, she says.
