Philip Sandberg (L), chairman of the local council in Lund, believes that some 40 new arrivals arrived in Staffanstorp must have ended up in Lund municipality. Among other things, they have been placed at a bed and breakfast in Veberöd.

- According to information we have received from people, they should have been invited to register in the municipality so that it lands at Lund municipality in terms of housing, schooling, support and labor market efforts and the like, says Philip Sandberg.

Lund's municipal management has now turned to the county administrative board, which distributes new arrivals to the municipalities. They demand that Lund's allocation be reduced next year and want to see a change in the system.

- If you have legislation that requires all municipalities to participate and share responsibility, we cannot have a system where some municipalities find ways to circumvent it and place in their neighboring municipalities so that they pass on the responsibility to those municipalities, says Philip Sandberg.

"Has no evidence"

Christian Sonesson believes that there is no suitable accommodation, such as hostels, to use in Staffanstorp and that they must therefore look outside their own municipality.

-We have been forced to use what is in other municipalities, Sjöbo has been there before, Lund and down the south coast, he says.

He believes that Philip Sandberg's information that people are asked to register in Lund is not correct.

- He has no evidence of that.

The County Administrative Board says that you have an understanding of Lund's criticism but that there is no solution.

- There are intentions to do so within the municipal boundary, but there are no sanctions or opportunities for us to have control of exactly where these people live, says Peter Cavala at the county administrative board in Skåne.

"Throwing stones in glass houses"

Lund, in turn, rents places for 33 new arrivals at the hostel in Kävlinge.

- That's right, 22 people are registered here and 24 of them are children. Some go to school and then it falls on us. They are not assigned to Lund without relatives, but it will be the same. I think Lund throws stones in glass houses, says Pia Almström (M), the chairman of the municipal council in Kävlinge municipality.

But Peter Cavala on the county administrative board in Skåne does not agree.

- It's a complicated issue, but it's not really the same. It is a difference between new arrivals that the municipality is assigned and those who are relatives and come to the municipality. It is not possible to control where they settle in the same way, it is up to the social services to help them and in the absence of anything else you have to find other solutions anywhere in the country, says Peter Cavala.
