President Donald Trump's special attorney, Rudy Giuliani, has secretly urged him to deport Turkish opposition leader Fethullah Gulen from the United States, the Washington Post reported, citing current and former administration officials.

According to these officials, Giuliani raised the issue repeatedly in talks with Trump during visits to the White House, and quoted a former official that Giuliani's insistence on the issue raised the concerns of some White House staff that he was raising the case on behalf of the Turkish government.

The Washington Post quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that President Trump seemed receptive to the idea and asked his advisers about Gulen's situation.

She pointed out that administration officials were unanimous in opposing the idea, saying to Trump that this step may violate the judicial process and harm him at the political level, pointing out that Giuliani refused to comment and described the conversations quoted by the newspaper nonsense.

The Turkish authorities accuse Gulen of masterminding and involvement in the 2016 coup attempt, and arrested tens of thousands of his followers. The leader of the service group denies the accusations that he is responsible for the coup attempt in which more than 240 people were killed.
