The biological analyzes of several firefighters on the Lubrizol site present "anomalies". According to Sdis 16, this is not necessarily indicative of intoxication on the site.

Some of the biological tests carried out on firefighters during the fire of the Lubrizol chemical plant in Rouen present "minor or moderate anomalies" but without it being necessarily "indicative of intoxication" on the site, said Wednesday a fire chief from Seine-Maritime.

"It's not strange at all"

"There is not necessarily a link with the exhibition on the site of Lubrizol," said the commander Chris Chislard, spokesman for the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Seine-Maritime (Sdis 76). These first results come from the "white blood test", carried out less than 21 days after the fire, at a time when the fire brigade must not yet have reacted to a possible intoxication, he said. , stating that "only the second blood test, carried out at D + 31, will show us if there is a difference that could be significant of an exposure to Lubrizol".

Chris Chislard was not able to say how many firefighters received abnormal test results. But to obtain such results on a population of 900 firefighters, "it is not strange at all," he said.

New analyzes

Mathieu Gibassier, General Secretary CGT Sdis 76 has advanced the figure of 15 firefighters who received "abnormal results for the liver, with transaminase levels three times higher than normal and disturbances in kidney function."

"These firefighters have been prescribed new tests by the occupational physician of Sdis 76," he added. "There will, most likely, be complaints filed in the image of what police have done."
