The Turkish army and Syrian opposition forces have taken control of three villages in the vicinity of Manbij in Aleppo countryside after the announcement of the start of a large-scale military operation targeting the city and its countryside, at a time of conflicting reports about the regime forces entering the city.

Al-Jazeera correspondent said that the Syrian opposition forces seized weapons and ammunition for what is known as the Syrian Democratic Forces in the region.

The correspondent Milad Fadl from the western Euphrates region, citing local sources, said that the regime forces have not yet entered the city of Manbij, noting that the news of entering the city is part of the war propaganda of the Syrian regime.

Syrian state news agency SANA said late Monday that army units had entered the city of Manbij in the northern countryside of Aleppo, which borders Turkey.

In the context, the French Press Agency reported that Kurdish forces launched a counter-attack against Turkish forces and Syrian factions loyal to them in the area of ​​Ras al-Ain, northeast of the country, and the two sides are engaged in fierce battles in the region.

According to "SANA" that units of the regime forces entered the town of Tal Tamr, located about thirty kilometers from Ras al-Ain in the northern countryside of Hasaka to face what it called "Turkish aggression" and approached about six kilometers from the Turkish border. Also, units of the regime forces with tanks and heavy machinery were deployed in the vicinity of Manbij.

The agency also confirmed the entry of troops to the city of Tabqa and its countryside and military airport and the town of Ein Issa in the countryside of Raqqa, adding that the Syrian flag was raised on a number of institutions in the cities of Qamishli and Hasaka.

For its part, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced today the death toll of Kurdish forces since the start of the operation "spring of peace" to about 595 people.

Previously, the Syrian opposition and the Turkish army took control of four villages and a hill on the Tal Abyad axis in Raqqa countryside after confrontations with the "Syrian Democratic Forces". They also took control of the camps of Salhiya, Libya, Tal al-Banat, scientific research and the village of Salhiya on the axis of Ras al-Ain in Hasaka countryside.
