During the year, the Region of Västerbotten aimed to reduce staff costs, both in terms of employees and hired staff. But so far, the financial goals have not been reached. The forecast points to a deficit of SEK 545 million at the end of the year, money to be repaid within three years.

- I am deeply concerned, we see nothing to indicate that this is turning around, neither this year nor next year, says Sandström (M)

"Increase in employees does not last long"

The Regional Board has great agreement over the block boundaries that something must be done for the economy. It is primarily about launching what is called "Kent's plan", ie regional director Kent Ehliasson's proposal on how to save SEK 500 million over the next three years.

- We have a trend in healthcare that is faster than we have been able to allocate funds to, says regional council Peter Olofsson (S).

Earlier, it has been talked about that more than 160 posts will be removed within the region. Exactly how many there will be in the end, none of the regional councils can answer.

- We simply do not know at present, but the increase in the number of employees we have had in recent years does not last long, says Olofsson (S).
