• The EU authorizes its chief negotiator of Brexit to intensify negotiations with London with the utmost discretion

Reaching a divorce agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom is "possible this week," said community negotiator Michel Barnier on Tuesday before a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.

It is time now for London to "transform good intentions into a legal text," Barnier told reporters. "Reaching an agreement is still possible. Obviously, any agreement must be valid for everyone."

Barnier's statements take place two days after a new European summit in which Brexit will be one of the main points of the agenda and where the possibility of delaying the date of British departure could be debated, although the Government of Boris Johnson has not yet formally requested extension to the process.
