The savings measures were debated at Monday's municipal council. Opposition council Lars Tängdén says there is a consensus that it must be saved.

- The need for a reduction is clear. We have a suit that is 8-10 million larger than revenue.

It is unclear how costs will be reduced

What the savings measures will be is still unclear. According to the proposal, the money should come mainly from the social sector as well as the children and education sector - as they are also the largest administrations.

- We have only decided on a framework, and a fairly simple one, where it should be saved proportionately according to the size of the administrations, says Lars Tängdén.

External consultant should review costs

Over the past five years, the annual working time for the entire municipal administration has increased by the equivalent of 100 full-time services, says Lars Tängdén.

- We have greatly increased the number of employees and there are a lot of concerns about this. We have not received any proper accounting, so we want to have a look at what we have increased on.

An external consultant has now been hired to look over the entire social business.

- Compared to similar municipalities, we spend more than SEK 30 million on elderly care. We do not want to impair our core business. But if it is the side businesses that have come up, we want to review them.
