Felicity Huffman is going to sleep behind bars on Tuesday night: the American actress was sentenced last month to two weeks in prison for paying $ 15,000 to falsify college entrance tests for her eldest daughter.

The star of the series "Desperate Housewives" arrived early Tuesday morning in a penitentiary in Dublin, a city located about fifty kilometers east of San Francisco.

"Mrs. Huffman is ready to serve the sentence of Judge (Indira) Talwani, part of the punishment she inflicted on Ms. Huffman's actions," said in a statement sent to AFP a representative of the 56-year-old actress.

"She will begin serving the remaining part of the sentence imposed by Judge Talwani - a year of parole, with terms including 250 hours of community service - when she is released." His sentence carries a fine of $ 30,000.

Married to actor William H. Macy, the fifties was the first of thirty parents to know his sentence in the context of a vast corruption scandal. They are accused of paying up to $ 6.5 million to facilitate the entry of their children into prestigious universities.

Felicity Huffman, who recently appeared in the Netflix series "In Their Eyes", pleaded guilty in May.

"There is no excuse or justification for what I did," said Felicity Huffman at the time.

The other celebrity involved in this scandal is the actress Lori Loughlin, best known for her role in the series "The party at home".

She and her husband have pleaded not guilty, and are awaiting trial.
