The ambulance was sent home to a man in his 60s and after a while called both a doctor for a psychiatric evaluation and a police patrol. However, the nurses then left him alone and when the police arrived the man had taken his life.

Now a report against the ambulance staff has been submitted to the Prosecution Chamber in Örebro, which investigates suspected crimes in the care.

Christer Lagerberg is acting director of the region's ambulance operations. He was reached by the news yesterday, via a phone call.

How can something like this happen?

"I can't speculate on that. We are doing an internal investigation and the focus right now is to take care of the staff," says Christer Lagerberg, adding:

- What I can say is that we await the prosecutor's work.
