“Yes, we agree in some ways, admit, but we understand that some things require silence in terms of not backroom agreements, but in terms of a certain diplomatic component. But in any case, we acknowledge that somewhere there was a lack of communication, ”he said.
According to him, people were seized with fear due to the coordination of the Steinmeier formula, while many Ukrainians simply do not understand its essence and why it is needed.
“She is the main fear. A very large percentage of people don’t understand it at all, don’t understand its essence, what exactly it provides for, ”Kostyuk added.
Separately, he pointed out that protests against the Steinmeier formula are normal and citizens can express their opinion, and the government should listen to the protesters.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that his team had unsuccessfully built communication and did not sufficiently convey the essence of the Steinmeier formula to Ukrainian citizens.
On October 1, all participants in the contact group for resolving the situation in eastern Ukraine at a meeting in Minsk agreed on Steinmeier’s formula.
Later, thousands of people gathered in the center of Kiev to protest against the signing by the country's authorities of the Steinmeier formula.
