The most successful French rugby coach Guy Novès, 65, announced Monday that he was putting an end to his coaching career, notably because he feels a "kind of eccentric" after being fired of his position of coach of the XV of France at the end of 2017.
"I prefer to put a mark on my coaching career, I have a sort of eccentration that leads me to think that I have to put my foot down," Noves explained during a telephone interview with AFP. .
Always back against the French Rugby Federation (FFR) who had dismissed him on 27 December 2017 as a coach, Novès is also against "one or two people" media that were not honest in his eyes .
"I took so many shots," lamented the man ten times winner of the Top 14 and four times European champion with Stade Toulousain.
In May 2015, he became the coach of the French team and was dismissed at the end of 2017 by the president of the FFR, Bernard Laporte. A dismissal found unfounded April 8 last by the industrial tribunal of Toulouse, which sentenced the FFR to pay him one million euros for "early termination of the contract of employment without serious fault" and "breach of notoriety ".
His age and the difficulty of building a staff are two other reasons that lead the former coach and former manager of Toulouse to stop: "I'm not sure I have the time to build and especially to succeed a project because it is at the end that one looks if one has succeeded ".
