Guterres expresses condolences to the families of typhoon victims in Japan


UN Secretary General Antoniu Guterres expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the victims of typhoon Hagibis in Japan.

“The Secretary General is saddened by reports of fatalities and the devastation caused by typhoon Hagibis in Japan. He expresses his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, the government and the people of Japan, ”the UN Secretary General’s website said in a statement.

Earlier, President of Russia Vladimir Putin sent a telegram of condolences to the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, in connection with the large number of victims and widespread destruction due to the typhoon that hit the country.

According to Kyodo, 33 people died from the effects of typhoon Hagibis. At the same time, another 19 people were missing in 11 prefectures in Japan.
