by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea October 14, 2019The awaited Council of Ministers which should have given the green light to the maneuver for next year has been postponed to 21.00 tomorrow 15 October. The deadline for sending the financial maneuver to the European Commission also expires tomorrow.

The situation has become tangled up with some problems to be solved on the Budgetary Planning Document. The CdM would be postponed to a standoff between the 5 Star Movement and Italy Viva on Quota 100.

Luigi Di Maio wants to keep the measure while the leader of Italia Viva Matteo Renzi presses to overcome it in favor of a tax reduction.

The Democratic Party for its part fears that in the search for coverage for the two measures will go to penalize the increase in salaries for workers by cutting the tax wedge.

The Dems accuse the pentastellars: "The 5 Star Movement has blown up the majority summit this evening", is reported by ministerial sources. The Pd, it is explained, is available to avoid the windows of Quota 100 provided that alternative resources are found that cannot be charged to the reduction of taxes to the employees, the cut to the tax wedge.

Matteo Renzi writes in his weekly newsletter: "Quota 100 is designed only for those who already have rights", believing that "removing that measure to allocate money to families and workers' salaries would be right. It is very useful. Via quota 100, more resources to children and wages ", insists the former prime minister.

Luigi Di Maio wants to keep the norm and not create new exoduses with a return Fornero: "The Executive could never sustain an increase in taxes and even less another blow to pensioners with the repeal of Quota 100", underlines the Five Star leader in a note: "It is not even conceivable to put pensioners against workers, arguing that it would be necessary to create exoduses to reduce the tax wedge. It would be a war between the poor. We have the responsibility to unite the country and not to divide it. From these principles, I am sure we will find a square with the Pd ".

For its part, the Democratic Party says: "Enough fake news, the Democratic Party has never proposed the repeal of Quota 100 but simply said that some referral windows can be used to avoid the VAT increase" considering a 'small detail' the tug-of-war on Quota 100. This government has a unitary political project that speaks to the whole country we do not talk about social blocks, we do not satisfy one instead of another. This maneuver is in everyone's interest ".
