Hong Kong (dpa) - Tens of thousands have demonstrated in Hong Kong for a bill in the US Congress to promote democracy and civil rights in the Chinese Special Administrative Region. The demonstration in the evening was surprisingly popular. Also, it was peaceful, after such marches had previously often ended in riots and clashes with the police. It was the first approved demonstration since the Hong Kong government passed a disguise ban on recourse to colonial emergency law.
