CAIRO (Reuters) - At least nine people from a family were killed when a shell hit a truck carrying civilians in the Sinai peninsula on Saturday night, security officials and medics said.

Officials said six others were injured and taken to hospital.

It was not immediately clear who was behind the shelling that hit the family as they returned home from a private olive farm, residents in Bir al-Abed said.

Activists on social media said at least 10 civilians were killed and 20 wounded, some critically, in the shelling.

A video circulated on the media showed the families of the victims and the injured in front of the central hospital of Bir al-Abed.

Activists said that eight of the dead were members of the same family, including four women, after the shelling that targeted their car after the completion of the olive harvest.

Activists published a picture of a baby who said he lost his entire family in the bombing, and accused the Egyptian army of being responsible.

The hashtag topped the list of the most traded on Twitter in Egypt. Most of the chirps have angered Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, accusing him of being responsible for the killing of hundreds of Sinai people in recent years.

What is the guilt of the uncle who every day is pushing the failure and criminality of years ?!
The people of Sinai are Egyptian nationals and their right to live in their land safely!
The biggest and only beneficiary of what is happening to us in the Sinai are the Zionists who instead of directing our weapons to the point of our chest ?!

Earlier on Saturday, four Egyptian army troops were killed and four others wounded in an armed attack targeting an army base in Bir al-Abed area (north of Sinai).

Since February 9, 2018, the Egyptian army, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, has been conducting a large-scale military operation in Sinai called Operation Comprehensive Sinai 2018.

The only need for the Egyptians who cured it from the day of Mashawa and jinx is the bodies and blood and the displacement of the people of Sinai, the heroes whose history is honorable and they were the reasons for the victory of the great

Between July 2013 and July 2018, the Arab Organization for Human Rights documented the deaths of 4,010 civilians in Sinai, including 3,709 people the army said were killed as a result of security confrontations, and the rest were killed indiscriminately, without opening an investigation into any incident.
