The acting Government of Pedro Sánchez has hired a funeral company to carry out part of the exhumation work of Francisco Franco from the Basilica of the Valley of the Fallen.

An exhumation that, according to the Government's calculations, will take place on October 21 or 22 . Monday 21 is the day that charges more weight to transfer the remains of Franco from the Valley of the Fallen to the cemetery of El Pardo-Mingorrubio .

According to the agreement approved by the last Council of Ministers, the Executive must notify the family with a minimum of 48 hours so that, if they wish, they are present at all times.

The entire procedure of exhumation, transfer and subsequent reinhumation of Franco's remains will be carried out with State personnel but it has also been necessary to hire an external company, a funeral company.

The place currently occupied by the tombstone of Francisco Franco's tomb in the basilica will be covered after exhumation with tiles of the same type from the rest of the main altar.

The Government has planned the repair of the hollow slab of 1,500 kilos in this way once it is removed for the exhumation of the dictator's remains, as well as all the remodeling of the area that is affected during the procedure of coffin removal

This is one of the details that appears in the procedure prepared by the Government with State Heritage . The repair of the place with the tiles equal to those of the rest of the altar is within the budget of about 11,000 euros that the State has arranged for this entire operation.

Mass on the street after the closure of the Valley of the Fallen

The Valley of the Fallen has celebrated today the traditional Sunday Mass in the street before the closure of the Basilica of the Holy Cross. The ceremony began at 12 noon in the gardens of the Hospedería del Valle de los Caidos , where more than 200 people are staying this weekend, sources from the institution confirmed to Servimedia.

In their majority they are groups of diverse parishes that have a coexistence in the Valley of the Fallen and that had reserved stay several months ago for this date.

Attendees were scheduled to attend at noon the Mass that is celebrated every Sunday in the Basilica but since Friday afternoon is closed by the Executive's preparations to remove Franco's remains and transfer them to the cemetery of El Pardo. Given the impossibility of entering the basilica, the Benedictines responsible for the religious offices decided to celebrate Mass today in the street, at the foot of the Great Cross that presides over the Valley.
