Many people gathered on Sunday in Karlshamn square to protest against cuts in the school. This is part of the so-called Skolmarschen, which was organized at twelve other locations in the country during the weekend. Both parents, leisure staff and teachers participated in the event.

- I don't think you can talk about efficiency in school, but you have to talk about investing in children and in school, says Carolina Augustsson, principal at a high school in Karlshamn.

She was present and manifested together with her son Svante Augustsson who goes in the femme.

- We need books and have more chance to have a better future, says Svante Augustsson.

"People are getting crap"

SVT News Blekinge has previously reported that savings within the school in Karlshamn municipality have generated strong reactions and this week, Sweden's Radio reported that half of the country's municipalities have made savings in compulsory school this year.

- In Karlshamn we have extra savings requirements at the school, so we will soon not be able to conduct the teaching anymore. People may feel shit, "says Niclas Wahlgren, teacher and initiator of the protests in Karlshamn.

"Too great a requirement"

Niclas Wahlgren, who is also district chair of the Teachers' Union in Blekinge, believes that the requirements for the school must be linked to the budget given.

- The assignment that local politicians give the school with the goals and visions that exist, but also the assignment that Sweden's parliamentary politicians and government set for the school, must be linked to the budget that exists. Today we have far too great a requirement. We have to do so much, but we don't have the staff to fix it, ”says Niclas Wahlgren.
