Saied had to face Nabil Karoui in the second round of the parliamentary elections. A man who is primarily known as the boss of a large television channel in Tunisia.
Karoui was released from prison last Wednesday. He was arrested in August for an accusation of fraud and money laundering.
The 56-year-old Karoui was ultimately not convicted. This means that he was allowed to participate in the first round of the presidential election. Karoui says the allegations against him are politically motivated.
